Default 911 Turbo w/ Direct Injection???

Anyone read or hear when Porsche is expected to bring their DI to the turbo 911? That, and the other lessons applied to the new base and S cars for 2009?
Thanks

Default RE: 911 Turbo w/ Direct Injection???

That's a good question. The turbo engine is not based on the 1st generation 997 normally-aspirated version. Neither is the 2nd gen normally-aspirated engine based on the 1st gen NA. So it isn't clear when direct injection will come to the turbo (and/or GT3) engines. It's reasonable to assume it will occur at some point, but because the engines are so different, it wouldn't be "plug and play."

BTW, Porsche has applied DI to its RS Spyder LMP2 V8 engine, with winning results to date.
