Default 99 Carrera Threw code P1531, need help

Ok so I took the car and had the code read. P1531 was the code and upon further research I found that it is a Cam adjustment on bank 1.

Is that just a cam sensor gone bad? I noticed there was 4 codes like P1531, so im assuming that each camshaft has its own sensor, correct?

and I know current Porsches have variable valve timing, but i dont know if they did that back in '99. If they did, then it could be that im guessing.

also, is it ok for the car to still be driven with this issue, or is it in danger of having a piston hit a valve or something?

any help is appreciated.

You either have a short to ground, bad wiring harness, or a bad cam actuator. You want to get it replaced asap.
