!999 911 Falling Apart
I purchased a 1999 911 and it breaks down constantly. Prior to reaching 50,000 miles the lettering on the Navigation system completely wore off and I contacted Porsche to look at fixing it under warranty, they said no way! They won't even give me the name os the supplier that manufactured the nav. System. The rear main had to be replaced (they did it under warranty) because it leaked oil all over my garage. The check engine light always comes on (time to bring it back to the dealer again). Porsche does not wan to hear about any of my problems (the list goes on). The car is nickel and diming me to death. My dream car turned into my nightmare with Porsche just not interested in standing behind their problems.
sounds like you might have ended up with a lemon, but dont give up quite yet, go to carfax and make sure you didnt get a wrecked n' rebuilt because when your dealin with a porsche getting rear ended is a major thing. keep us informed about your progress.
Broken Porshce--
[sm=morning.gif]That really sucks. Where did you purchase this 996 and when? RMS is a known issue and what do you mean by braking down? When you took it into dealership to get the check engine light diagnose, what did the computer dish out? Dont bother looking at carfax for the history because its never accurate. Your best bet is to go to the Porsche dealership and see how many times your 996 has been in for service and for what reasons. Keep us posted!

I have a 99MY 996 and it has had a few problems.....however you have to remember that the car is 5 years old now and things will start to wear out.... After owning a G series, 964, 993 and my current car they is no way anyone can complain about the cost of owning a 911. Back in the early days servicing cost a heap compared to now days..... I sure there are 2 sides to your story because after ownering many Porsches, in my experience, they have never walk away from any problem.
