Help on buying 1st Porsche - 2000 911 C4
I'm looking to purchase a 2000 911 C4 from a Porsche dealer. Anything specific I should look for or request? It will be CPO'd by the dealer and they tell me they replaced the rear main seal (I'm not sure if that was due to a problem or precautionary). The car has 28k miles on it.
I'd appreciate any advice/suggestions.
thanks

I'm not sure, but I think I remember that the rear main seals were suspect ... I'm not an expert on the newer cars... Seems like as it is a Certified car, you can't be too bad off... Join the PCA and learn the capabilities of the car, you'll appreciate more ...
I have a 01 C4 and the only thing you need to watchis the rear main seal. I have 32,000 miles on mine with no problems and have heard of many others with many more miles and no problems. I think your car needs to be driven and the garage queens may leak more. The dealer told me these are pretty durable motors with no problems.

Mine had rear main seal and the cost to repair is around 2K. It was repaired b4 I bought.
Also, check engine lights, DEQ approved, check history. I suggest you buy extended warranty b/c in 3 mos, I accumulated 3000$ repair cost paid by warranty already!
