My neighbor and good friend of mine has a 99 911 Carrera cabriolet he needs to sell but has no idea of what it is worth due to the fact that it is blowing smoke when he cranks it up. His mechanic said a new engine is a $10,000 minimum. My friend has had this car for 9 years and has pampered it anytime it needs a repair. It has 132k miles, and lots of options. The interior is immaculate and the car is in excellent shape other than the smoke. Edmunds says it's worth $14,700 as a private party sell and that is listing the car as Average. A couple of questions:

What is the value of such a car?
Is replacing the engine his only option or would some major overhaul be a better option?

Uh, has he tried a new oil air seperator first? $100 part, and a couple hours to fix. Usually fixes the smoking issue.
