New owner 2001 C2
Ok, had some questions and wanted to see if you all could help. I jsut bought my first Porsche and it is on its way here now. It is a 2001 C2 with 8,500 miles.
So, my questions were:
Rear main seal - I had one mechanic say there was nothing wrong with it. Then I had the dealer I bought it from take it to a Porsche dealer and they said the rear main seal is leaking and to get it fixed it is 1,300. The dealer I am buying it from says that is preposterous and that it may have a tiny, tiny leak but he has never seen a drip of oil from anywhere he parked the car. So, he took it to another Porsche mechanic and they said that yes there is a tiny leak. But, it is nowhere near significant and not worth tearing the car apart to fix it becasue the leak is so small. So, I was planning on taking it to two dealerships once it gets here to see what they say. But, if it is a very small leak, what do you all think? Is it worth worrying about if it is so small that I can leave it sitting in the garage for a few days and don't see a drip of oil on the ground?
Second question is an extended warranty. Are these worth it? If so, who do you recommend? Do they cover things like rear main seals or just major stuff?
Thanks in advance for the replies.

Check your inbox.
I sent you a PM on the matter after your email server kept rejecting my emails.
Extended warranty in my opinion is definetly worth it. It should cover the RMS seal.

Hi and congrats on your car. I too just purchased a 2001 C2 convert. I am was looking around for extender warrantiesas well. I have received a few quotes but kind of unsure what to go with. If you find anything please share.

The dealer I bought mine from offered one. For 3 extended years and 36 extended miles it is 1,500. Covers the major stuff...seals being one of them. So, if it costs 1,300 to replace the rms, I figured it was well worth it.
