Default Odometer trouble

My 1980 911sc odometer stopped so I took the speedometer out and looked inside -sure enough the little gear was broken. I bought another one and with a couple of internet articles fixed it. Now the odometer only works at about 20 mph and lower. Above 20 it stops. When you slow back down it starts working. The speedometer works fine. I'm pretty sure I hooked the wires back correctly but I have reset the trip meter several times while driving but I can't see this causing problems since every car I have owned you can reset the trip while driving without problems (even Triumphs) ((plastic gears won't rust on Triumphs I guess)). Any Ideas guys and Gals?

Hi Steve, Wonder if you might have a piece of the broken gear causing the problem?? Did you get all the broken pieces out??

Good luck

Default RE: Odometer trouble

There's an Idea! I'll look this weekend. Its too hot in Texas to go look now. The garage is about 100 degrees every day now since its 100 degrees outside every day. Its got to be a small mechanicalproblem I missed. Its weird!
Thanks
Steve
