Default Oil Change on 89 911

Just want to confirm...i know that the engine should be warmed upto operating temp for the oil level to be correct on the gauge. What about checking the oil level on the dip stick...should the engine be running or stopped? I think that my dash gauge is malfunctioning so i want to be sure about the oil level.

thanks

Robert

Your car has a dry sump system, oil is checked once the car is at normal operating temperature , on level ground and after it has been idling about a minute or so.... The oil level should bebetween upper and lower markson the dipstick... The difference between the marks is approx. 1.85 quarts. Hope this helps... Don't depend on the the oil level gauge.

Robert,

Remember as long as the oil is between the marks, it's OK... Don't overfill...
