Default Porsche 993 - Which year do you recommend?

Hi all,

I am looking to buy a used 993 somewhere down the line and am interested in knowing which year I should buy.

I am looking for the year that is best built with least known problems within the 993 series.

I appreciate any feedback on why that is the best year.

Thanks.

I own a 1995 cabrio. I understand 1996-1998 are faster by 10-20 horsepower. I think the maintenance is the same for all years, but I am a new owner, so I suggest you continue researching beyond my comments...

The 96 - 98 have something called viaram which, according to forums, has caused all sorts of problemswith passing emmissions (I'm skipping over the tech parts of why SAI, CEL etc.) If your in a stringent emissions state,95 might be better for you. I'm sure more knowledgable people might have a different idea
