Default Radar Detectors / Porsche

I am new to this forum, Hello......

I drive a Porsche 911. Seeing I drive a lot on a day to day basis so I started to do research on radar detectors for my car seeing how I have recieved speeding tickets recently. Being new to them I did not know to much about how they worked and what the differencies were between them and what I got for more money. I decided to contact the mfg direct to get a birds eye view of each radar, I spoke with Escort several times regarding there products and my experience with Escort was different depending on the rep you spoke with, they all seemed not to be too helpful in explaining how there system worked. I then called Cobra only to find out they do not really have what I was looking for, I then called a company called K40. Not only were the reps I spoke with there VERY knowledgable about there products but how they would work specifically in my Porsche. After our lengthly conversation, I was given the name of a dealer in my area where I could purchase there radar. I ended up purchasing the K40 Calibre. I am posting this to express my satisfaction on this radar, since I have had this I have not gotten any speeding tickets, this radar is excillent about letting you know ahead of time where the threats are to give you more then enough time to slow down. I cant even tell it is installed in my car, which I like being the vehicle I drive I do not want something sticking out. Bottom line is if you are looking for a radar I highly recommend the K40 Calibre.

Thanks

Don't use them. The experience of my friends with them is that they avoid 90% of their tickets but they eventually get nailed for a big one, being in the habit of really speeding all the time -- they eventually get nailed, and of course, in many states, get an additional fine and the detector confiscated.

I just obey the speed limits (+5 mph) and never have had any problems.

You should be driving a porsche if you want to drive slow, maybe you should look into a chevy or maybe a Dodge neon ( Do they still make those ) ? Anyways I also drive with the K40 and would very much have to agree if you are looking to protect yourself against speeding tickets I would recommend the K40 radar.

Well, I guess you have a unique perspective: you have to drive fast to enjoy a Porsche? Seems to be what you are saying. I enjoy my Aston even when I am doing just 30 mph around town. A Chevy or Neon wouldn't be as fun -- my Lincoln isn't either but then its a rainy day car.

Come to think about it, my Porsche wasn't as fun to drive around town; You might be on to something.
