I have a 2001 911 C2 and just got my oil changed at the dealer at 55,000 miles and they mentioned that the RMS is leaking. I still dont see any oil in my garage, but she mentioned that there is a catch pan on the car so that is why I dont see any oil spots in my garage.

Since she quoted me at 1400 bucks to fix it I want to do more then just fixing the RMS.

What I really want to do is drive the car till the clutch is going out, then fix the clutch and RMS at the same time since they have to drop the transmission anyway. Do you think this stategy would be ok to do just as long as I keep checking the oil level to ensure it is at the recommended level? As I said, to this day I have not seen a drop of oil hit the pavement yet.

I just want to make sure by waiting to fix the RMS that I dont cause even more damage.

 

Change the RMS when it starts becoming an annoyance (oil on the ground). People will say it can ruin your clutch, but that isn't the case, and when you go in to do the RMS, you replace the clutch anyway.
