Default Springs

I have been doing some research into changing out my US Factory Springs to the Euro springs. They will lower the car about 1" in front and 1/2" in back. One guy has told me I need to change my shocks and bump stops. I am having a hard time believing I need to change the shocks with such a minor height change. Anyone done this? Feedback? The car is a 2001 996TT - Thank you

the main reason it is said that the shocks and bump stops should be changed is because if they are not changed it will create a very stiff ride
