Default supercharger vs ecu with new exhaust

I have a 1999 996 C4: I have been looking at ways to increase power. Spoke to Farnbacher Loles in CT, and TPC racing in MD. Farnbarcher is pushing for new exhaust and ecu dyno tuning, while TPC says that I'm wasting my money on exhaust and will be lucky to not lose power. Instead, He suggests the supercharger with ecu dyno tuning. I'm not going to do anything until this spring, would like to hear your thoughts.Tha[sm=shades.gif]nks

EXhaust and tuning will add just enough power that you might actually feel it. A supercharger and tuning will add a bunch - transform the car.

I've done this several times with several cars. The problem is, supercharging the car will bring with it a host of problems, some minor, that require that you either live with imperfection, or spend a lot of money on fruther mods and details (you shouldn't start down this road unless you have a nearly infinate supply of cash)and also time for hassles and headaches (the real price of modification money I had, all the time for these hassles and problems I didn't).

I would stay away from the TPC kit, but that is just me. I would look at the EvoMS/VF engineeringkit instead.

Either way, I think you are comparing apples to oranges. The supercharger will include the retuned ECU, and will run about 12k installed and provide a lot more hp (IIRC around 100). A flash and full exhaust will run in the 4k range, and net you in the 20-25hp increase range.

Why stay away from TPC Racing? Not that I care one way or the other, just trying to get as much info as possible beforemaking a decision. Thanks

What kinds of minor issues did you run into? Also, what kits did you use and/or recommend? Thanks
