Default Where are the Spark Plugs

Please excuse my ignorance. Where are the spark plugs on this car? I recently purchased a 2001 996 C2.with 45k miles on it. In my mind this translates to changing all the fluids, filters and spark plugs. I’ve manages to feel my way through the fluids and filters departments, but I’m having a bit of a problem getting my hands on the spark plugs. I’ve owned several Porsches in the past …. All air cooled and never had a problem. As you know (and I am finding out) the 996 is a very different animal. I would be most grateful if someone could tell me where to look and the best way to change them. i.e. Do I need to pull off the rear bumper, remove the wheels, drop the engine, raise the rear …. To get to them? Any special too;s?

Thanks in advance

Removing the rear wheels gives you more light and better visibility. First you need to undo the 2 hex bolts that hold each of the 6 Coil Caps onto the top of the Plugs. You need a good range of flexibles, but it is doable. But not when the engine is hot!
Trust that helps.

Thanks Big Bob for your reply. The plugs are due to arrive in a few days. I'll let you know how I made out.
