RE: 66 912 starter problem
Hello herbd, The starter is located on top of the starter motor. It can be removed,
but first I would check the connecting cable and clean it to the solenoid
from the starter motor. You will also want to check and clean the hot wire
from the battery. Are you sure your key switch is not worn out and not
making contact? When the battery is low you will also get the same symptom
you described. The starter motor brushes can also be adjusted, but requires
removal of the starter and disassembly of it. There is a place in Hayward
Ca. called Parts heaven which specializes exclusively in Porsche and they
have everything, including the vintage stuff. Partsheaven.com, they will
ship UPS. Hope this helps you out; GOOD LUCK!
