I have a 1985 944 and am having problems with the half shafts. They have come apart on me twice now. The bolts dont break at all, they just come unscrewed. They always manage to stay on the car, so I havn't had to replace any of them. Just wondering if anyone else has had that problem or knows what is going on and how to fix it.

 

That is usually due to improper installation.

You need to clean the bolt threads before you install them, torque to 36ft/lbs in a star pattern, just like installing a wheel.
