Default 1988 944 A/C Suddenly stopped working

The A/C suddenly stopped working recently, and I'm trying to understand what's going on. The compressor comes on, and I see no bubbles in the site glass, so that's all good. I don't have the equipment to measure pressures and such, but there's just no cool air coming out at all. It coincided with taking the instument cluster out to replace the odometer gear and fix the instrument lighting, but that might be a red herring. Anyway, I read over on the Clark's garage forums that one possibility might be the air temp sensor that's run from the circular vent in the dash down a tube to the sensor. The suggestion was that cleaning the sensor may help. I'm trying to understand how to get to the sensor, and it looks like I have to take out the entire dash, including the center console. Does anyone have experience with this and maybe provide a hint on a simpler way to get to that sensor? Anything else I should take a look at? Fortunately things have cooled off here so it's no big deal, but it can be handy when it's raining and the windshield keeps fogging on the inside.

Thanks,

-ronc
