Default '83 Performance Upgrades?

I've just recently started looking into a replacement autocross car, and a '83 944 caught my eye. It's local, and cheap. Has 65k miles on it. Test drove it yesterday, and it is a deffinate breath of fresh air, after ridingmy old Iroc-Z last season. I figure I'd change the timing chain, and do a general tune-up if I go with it.

At this point, I'm just concearned about performance upgrades for it. Which brings me to a few questions:

Can I eventually (And safely) add Turbo with little hastle?

What good if any will mod chips bring to the HP, and again, are they safe?

What are some suggestions for quick HP additions without sacraficing engine reliability?

Default RE: '83 Performance Upgrades?

There are no performance upgrades for the NA cars that are worht anything. A lot of money might get you 5-10hp, but it isn't worth it. Upgrade the suspension to big sway bars etc, and have fun. The 83 is a very fun track car, as they are a bit lighter, manual steering, etc.

If you want a turbo, but a 944 turbo, it will be a LOT cheaper in the long run than trying to put a turbo on an NA car..
