I missed the point of sending us to that link... all that site did was talk about making a 944NA look like a 951. The guy didn't turbocharge his NA. Was there something else there that I didn't see?

To answer the original question tho, yes, it has been done, They usually show up on 968's, not S2's, but it would be basically the same install . Powerhaus in AZ has done a few of these, but be warned, its not cheap. I'd start by talking with them, and then decide what direction you want to go.

It's getting sad within the 944/924 comunity these days. There is very much too high of a Honda mentality amung the younger drivers. I admit I had way to many ambitions when I began driving my 944 a few years back.

I blame it on the shere prescision that was put fourth in the first place. Had Porsche not done it right the 1st time it wouldn't cost nearly asm uch as it does to mod these cars...... but wait, this is a premium vehicle, so why is it people expect so much that so little will make thier already fast car a screaming metal death trap?

Actually, I think its just this forum, as Rennlist.com doesn't have these sorts of problems on their 944 web forum. Its a very smart bunch of folks over there, actually. It never ceases to amaze me that just about every new 944 owner comes in with the same question, but you know what? Back over ten years ago after I had picked up my first 944, I was asking some of the same questions. After playing with muscle cars before getting into Porsches, I was expecting some of the same cheap hp gains and techniques to work. Unfortunately, as pretty much everyone learns eventually, they don't. Kudo's to Porshce for doing it right the first time.

Regards,

I'd avoid putting a turbo charger on a 3.0 16 V engine - unless you have lots and lots of extra cash. Porsche always used an 8V head when they turbo charged 944s and 968s - even on their race cars. Most people who build 968 Turbo S replicas switch the head of the 968 they start with to an 8v (that is what Porsche did). The S2 would require a similar approach. For the money you could pick up a 2.5 liter 88 or 89 944 TurboS which has all of this done for you. It isn't a 3.0 but it was the best 944 turbo Porsche ever produced. It is basically a street legal version of the Turbo Cup race car.

The 968 TurboS and RS were never mass produced and only a small handful of them exist. This makes the pretty much priceless and worth the expense of replicating. There are plenty of 944 TurboS cars in great shape to be had for much less than the price of this conversion, if you do it right. Sell your S2 and buy a nice TurboS and you'll be ahead of the game in terms of money and reliability. Take some of the money you saved and lavish it on a TurboS and you will be driving one of the nicest cars ever made. IMHO.
