I bought a 944 turbo motor and i am going to swap it into my 944 non turbo....motor is ready to go in i just want to know if anyone could some how give me everything i will need to completely sway the motor in....mostly with the wiring harness...i am buying a new wiring harness because the person i bought the motor off of cut the harness. there are some extra wires on the turbo motors wiring harness than the regular 944...i was wondering if anyone could possibly give me some details about swapping this...email me at ridrnkink18@hotmail.com if you can help me out....thanks

Lol, when you say a new harness you mean used correct? Lol, a new harness is about 1800 retail. You will need obviously the entire exhaust system all the way back including the headers, wastegate, crossover pipe, cat section and cat back section. You will need the DME and KLR computers, along with the associated wiring harness. You will need the metal coolant crossover pipe for the front of the engine, as well as a turbo coolant tank, turbo coolant auxillary water pump, all the associated hoses. Heat shield for the brake booster/master cylinder if you don't already have one. You really should have a turbo radiator, but it is not required IIRC.

i have the cross-over pipe headers an extra turbo actually...have computers and new intake and im not looking for an entire wiring harness just the motor wiring harness thats it...i will make the motors wiring work with the stock 944 wiring harness...getting new clutch lightened fly wheel...intercooler, new trans cooler cause my stock one is all flattened out from before i got it, gauges exhaust i build myself...basically i need the wiring part of knowing what i need...everything else im pretty sure i will know is necessary. its just making the turbo motor wiring harness work with the stock 944 harness.

Yes 1800 is about the going rate for an engine harness alone. In fact, I took the last 944S harness out of Germany last year for 2k.

A 944NA harness absolutely will NOT work with a turbo engine, it does not have any of the wiring for the KLR, nor the KLR plug. You might be able to pull a used turbo harness off ebay for about 200 bucks, but beware, the speed and reference sensor wiring is usually shot, and that is special shielded wire.

is it possible that you could just make a list of the hardest **** i will have to do cause that is the only problem i am having with swapping the motor...like should i change gears in transaxle..will the trans axle hold up with 944 turbo motor...and just some extra wiring that is on the 944 turbo and not the 944 non turbo. please let me know...if anyone lives near bridgewater and has a very good knowledge of this car...i will give you my stock 944 engine for free..please contact me if you could possibly help me out..thankyou

You are going down a very long and very expensive road my freind. Yes, you will need to change out the transaxle to a turbo transaxle. You might get by for awhile on the NA tranny, but it will implode if you are hard on it.

As far as the wiring goes, you are on your own there, that is a huge undertaking. Just buy a damn used harness and call it good.

hey ridrnkink, if you mean bridgewater MA, i'm in Natick. I did this swap a few years ago and can show you the car and remember the job pretty well. I spent less than 3k including the motor too so it wasn't too expensive of a process. Email me if you are interested, i would be glad to give you a hand.
