Default boot catches

the second of my two problems is with the boot lid release. the motor tightens fine, pulling the cable, and releasing the catches, but once open nothing seems to release them back again.

not sure whether the motor should turn backwards, or if there is a mechanical release that should be working. help, anyone know what should happen here?

thanks

Default RE: boot catches

the release button pulls the 2 collars away from the bottom of the stud on both sides.

i wipe down and lube the studs/receptacles with wd40 from time to time and work them with the key.

the studs are threaded and can be lengthened or shortened but can be old/brittle and may snap off if you turn them.[&:]
