Default Cooling Fans

Went out today to see if I could trace my running warm problem down. After letting it idle up to temp only one of the fans came on. Is it safe to assume that if one fan works and one doesn't that it is the fan motor or do they run on seperate systems? The wiring looks ok. I also found a couple of connectors for hoses (vacuum?) that are not connected......one is under the mass air flow meter on the front of the engine, it is large (probably .5-.75") and another one is on the passenger side and is next to the where the radiator hose goes. That connection is plastic and is directly behind the fan that is not working.

it isn't safe to assume. Turn on your AC and see if the other fan comes on, if the other fan comes on then its not the motor obviously. Is it the driver, or passenger side fan that comes on when you're idling?

Yup, start by turning on your AC, then the other fan should come on. Typically one fan not working is due to a faulty fan or ac relay.

It is the driver's side that comes on.
