Default Radiator cooling fans issue

Hey guys just need to get so insight, when i bought my car someone had wired the cooling fans to a switch in the center console. i just need to get a good wiring diagram simply because i cant do any testing on the wires because when the fans kick on the # 3 fuse and wire start smoking and then the fuse blows not enough time to do any diag so i feel a good wiring diagram will make this as easy as pie, i can tell you that 2 of the wires are in the correct location on the fans but the red and black wire was cut and the green and the yellow was also cut i used jumper wires to try and diag correct location of the wires but if i hooked up the black and red wire to the passenger side fan it would run on low continuosly and then would kick into high with the thermo switch but still causes the the wire and #3 fuse to smoke and blow????
