I found coolant on the dipstick yesterday. I know that it could be a number of things but I decided to call my mechanic to see what the cost of replacing the head gasket would be. I was quoted $2700 in labor plus parts. The oil cooler was $1750. Does this sound about right?

 

Lol, that is awesome. A head gasket R&R on an NA is 11 hours, and about $200 in parts. If you want to replace the belts and rollers and waterpump while you are in there, add about 3-4 hours. Run as far away from that shop as you can.
