Default Hot start problem

I have a 1984 944 that has developed starting problem as the weather has gotten hotter. Obviously the engine gets hot in the afternoon, and when I turn the car off it won't start again until it has cooled down quite a bit, usually a couple of hours or more. Does anyone have any suggestions on what it might be and how I might fix the problem? Thanks.

More than likely the reference sensor connectors or the DME relay. I take it the tach does not bounce when you are cranking the car? When trying to start it, it should move very slightly.

Thanks for the quick reply. I haven't noticed whether the tach moves or not, but will pay close attention to that the next time it happens. Also, I did replace the DME relay but that didn't solve the problem.
