Default New Member needing advice on a 944. Please!

Hi guys! Im glad to be a new member of this excellent forum. I need some help. Recently, Ive been thinking about getting a 1987 944. Ive done a lot of research and from what I got the most importent things to get changed at 112k are timing belt, water pump, new valves. All these have been done as well as new tires, and new brakes. All it needs is the a/c being recharged and a new cd deck and speakers. The tranny and clutch are perfect. (already put a refundable deposit on her) I have a mustang GT right now and the gas is just killing me so I need something better on the gas front. This would be my everyday driver and I make a lot of short trips. Usually drive about 30-100 miles a day. Would this car hold up well with regular maintaince (i.e. fluid changes) well for my needs? Since all the main issues for this mileage have been addressed. Engine runs awesome and all electronics work (besides stereo and speakers. Lous buzzing sound) So you guys think this will last me without any major work till like 150 or 160k? I just wanted input before I buy.

Thanks so much,
Nick

I am no expert.....new to the 944 family too, but everything I have heard is to replace the timing belt every 25k-30k miles.

You have to remeber.....this is NOT the Mustang forum (I frequent there too). Much less traffic,so be patient.

I dont know if you already got this car, but I drive mine about 60 miles a day, it an 85 N/A and it has no problems, and very little maintenance. But you have to remember its a 20 year old car. Could quit at any time for a relay, fuel pump, wiring, or numerous other problems. I like tinkering with my car, so I have never had it just stop and not start, but many owners have.
