Default Cab Top

I have a 1997 Boxster- The convert. top stopped working and I brought it to the dealer.
They told me the L/S Transmission cable is broken, both transmission need replacing and the drip tray is broken. The cost $2500. Since the car has all new brakes and tires and the car works perfectly, I'm not ready to call it a day. But I need help with an option to a A$2500 repair. Any advise- How much should I expect to spend on these parts

Default RE: Cab Top

Unfortunately the cab top is one of the most expensive areas on the Boxster to fix... behind the RMS leaks. You can take your car to an independent or cab top shop to get a quote. The cables in the 97 model were crap... were swapped to a better type in early 2000 i believe. If you are handy with tools you can probably do the work yourself with some time/effort/workshop manuals are available on .pdf for less than a 100 bucks now. Call the guys at suncoast motorsports in Florida... they sell online and are helpful with questions.
