smoke
I just bought a boxster 02 and this morning I started, there was alot white smoke from the back pipe. I not sure is that normal and also do anyone whom owned a boxster have to turn your key and wait couple of sec to let the oil gauge reach it measure at the drive side gauge....

RE: smoke
Smoke for 10-15 seconds is normal, it is oil seeping past the valves and into the exhaust, which burns up on startup. Normal for a horizontal engine. No need to wait a few seconds when starting.

RE: smoke
i had the same problem i have 2002 boxster to, everyone told me its normal so i ignored it. guess what after about 6 mos i head gasket blew up. it cost me 5,000 to fix it. if i were you i told it to the shop to check it, better to spend the $ 300 dollars now then to pay 5k like i did. trust me or you will regret it.... better safe than sorry. dont be cheap on an expensive car it ends up costing you much more.
