As mentioned already, the Passport 8500 and the V1 are generally considered among the best.

I've never done comparisons, but I'll add that it's not worth cheaping out on this sort of thing. The very first time it saves you a ticket, it's paid for itself.

I've been nailed by aircraft surveillance, laser, and a cop on a deserted stretch of highway who only turned on his radar unit when I crested a hill. But if it weren't for my RD, I'd have had my license suspended by now. It's saved me at least ten times.

I have a valentine one radar detector and I live by it. It is by far the best one out on the market at this point in time. I highly recommed getting one and if you already have one dont forget to send it in to update it every so often.

Anything for a hundred bucks is going to go off everytime somebody is cooking a pot of beans, a decent portable radar detector start at around 300 something like the k40 RD850 or the escorts 9500 units work fairly well. If you want something a little more end either go with the K40 2000 undetectable , the Calibre, or Escorts SR7 with thr shifter if you want protection against Laser, but be prepared to spend a few bucks . send me a PM and I can set you up with any of those units at a deal and can even do the install for you if your local. good luck

I have the 9500i, and after months of use, I am pretty convinced the GPS function is worthless. It only seems to remember marked out points for a set period of time, then after a while you find X band beeping at you where you previously had it locked out. There is a new unit out, the 9500ic or something like that which is suppose to be better (note, for you 9500i owners, you can send your unit in and have it upgraded to the new unit for around 150 bucks.....from what I hear, they just send you a new unit and don't bother upgrading your old one).

I would have to say by far the K40 radar is ther best on the market. I have been running K40 installed units for quit sometime and not only are there systems completely stealth but they are extremely easy to use and K40 themselves back all of there radars performance with a speeding ticket guarentee. I have been using there Calibre system paired up with there new EX defuser and I am very happy with its performance, I have never gotten a ticket using one of there systems. Hope this helps...

Hi Porschefreak

I visited the website and found it very informative, although I have spoken to a few different retailers such as www.radarsdirect.com.au but I reckon the Valentine one is the best performer. I noticed on your website www.radrs.com.au you have a test with the pro78 vs the valentine one but I reckon there is a pretency of biased data present?
