Default Fan belt

Hi there...I just boughta 74' 911 with a 85' 3.2. I need to replace the fan belt or may be called serpentine belt? So far I've heard 200 dollars to replace it, which doesn't sound ridiculous if your drunk. So trying to avoid paying the not very suprising price, can anyone help me out with some tips on either to replace it myself, or having someone replace it for me. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance...

Default RE: Fan belt

You need to hold the fan pulley while your remove the 24mm nut. There should be a tool in your tool kit to do so, they are the same for the older engines as well. Once you remove the nut, alignment spacer, and shims, you can then pull off the outer pulley assembly which holds the belt in place. Then remove the belt and replace. There will probably be some shims between the two pulley halves as well, these are used to tension the belt properly. If there are ones on the outside of the pulley (by the nut you removed, those are extras to be used if needed).
