Default Porsche Shifter Question

I recently purchased my first Porsche. It is a 2002 911. it is a 6 sp and it has been quite some time since I have had a manual car. I did not have any problems with the car today and when I returned home I parked outside. I went back out 15 minutes later to pull the car in the garage and the car will not come out of first gear. The shifter will not go in any other gear and just seems extremely loose or even limp for lack of a better word. The clutch seems to feel fine. I was wondering if anyone has encountered this and if you could shed any light on what is going. My guess is i will need to have the car towed to the mechanic come monday.
thanks in advance for any feedback.

More than likely the shift bushing/coupling at the bottom of the shifter has broken and needs to be replaced. It involves removing the center console and just popping on a new coupler to the shifter and to the shift cable. If you know what you are doing, it is a 15 minute repair. First time maybe an hour. If you can find the procedure on how to install a short throw shifter, that will walk you right through it.
