Hi,
I'm new to the Porsche forum and recently became a first time owner of a Porsche....a 911,1990 Carrera 4. I finally had the opportunity to purchase one and I'm like a little kid with a new toy. As a newbie I'll be looking at the forums regarding maintenence suggestions and tips. Also hearing about the many experiences of veteran Porsche owners and enthusiasts.
I'm already into my first experience regarding which oil brands and viscosity to use. The engine was rebuilt at 115,000 miles and the previous owner has been using Pennzoil 5w40 European synthetic. I'm finding it difficult to purchase this oil from any local retailer in the Chicago suburban area, but I will try to purchase it online if this is the only way to stay with this brand and viscosity. Does anyone else have suggestions about which oil to use? Thanks!

Welcome. That oil isn't impossible to find but there are several other oils that will do as well. Still, if you like it, stick with it -- it is available over the internet of a call/e-mail to the manufacturer would probably get the name and address of a retailer -- they must have it in Chicago - I could get it in Raleigh without too much problem (Autozone actually ordered it for me).
