Default porsche 997 cabriolet

Hello,

Just joined the post and am thinking about replacing my Michelin Pilot Sports which only lasted 8000 miles. Now my Porsche service center has suggested Advans or Hankooks. Does anyone have any feedback on their performance durability etc?

On a Carrera, any really satsifactory high performance tire will last only 8 - 11K miles. I have no experience with Advans. have not heard great things about Advans but nothing really negative either -- just sort of "Why bother?" I have owned several sets of Hankooks: they are relatively inexpensive which is not really an issue (I figure anyone who can afford the car hardly cares about the $400-$600 difference in cost of a set of tires) -- but I got them for my '04 Carrera because apparently among all high performance tires they have the highest wear (and, admittedly, the lowest high performance) and they did go about 16,000 miles rather than 11000 for me like my Michl'ns. I was happy with them, but they did not quite hold and turn in as well as the Pilot Sports - more wear, less performance. You have to make up your own mind.
