Default 997 C4S vs 997 CS

Hi all, new to the board. I am getting ready to pull the trigger on my first Porsche after all of these years. It is between a 997 C4S and a 997 CS. Both cars are out of state at dealers so I will go and pick them up. I have a couple of questions that if folks on this board can give me some feedback it would help.

1. Is the all-wheel drive worth it? I live in Colorado where we do get the occasional snow storm. Will the C4S drive well in bad weather or do most not drive their all-wheel drive in the snow?

2. I know that the C4 and C4S have the wide-body that is on the TT. From my research, it is an extra 2" in width and wider back tires. Is there a visible difference in the wide-body over a standard CS?

3. Audio. Both cars have the upgraded Bose systems. Is there an AUX port for an IPod or do you have to have something installed?

Thanks for any feedback.

The four wheel drive really helps in snow, but only if you have proper tires. The stock high performance tires slip and slide on snow, its both their width and the compound they have. The car will be close to worthless in snow with them on.

So you buy an extra set of wheels (maybe from tirerack of someplace to save money, generally go with a snow tire in a narrower range (about 205 or 215 section, I recall), then change for winter and back after the last snow.

Thanks for the reply. In normal weather, does the C4S perform better than the CS?

I can't attest from personal experience but most folks say that on balance the C4S is faster around most roadrace courses than the two wheel drive model, despite its slightly greater weight and higher drivetrain losses. What I do know is that C4S is more neutral and planted under power in tight turns, and the line it takes is much more "nearly transparent" with respect to if and how much you put power on - applying power does not "steer" the car or change the direction it wants to take, as it did in my C2.
