Default What to BUY 911, help me out

Hi all, I signed up to get your opinions, I am in the market to buy a Porsche 911. I have narrowed my choices down to the following.
please make suggestions/comments and provide information behind your reasoning. I really like the new interior of the 2005 911, please note that I have test drove a 2006 911S and I loved everything about it, it is fast and handles well with a little bit of bobbing front end on fast turns, I also drove a 2008 Cayman S, absolutely love the handling but lacks the torque. I have never driven the 911 4S, I don't know how different it feels since its 4 wheel drive but I love the shape of it even though it has the ugly old interior.

911 4S 2002-2004
911S 2005-2006
911 base 2005-2006 (maybe)

I want to spend 45-55k

Thanks all...

It's a tough call. The 997 interior is much nicer than the 996 IMO. The 996 also has the fried egg headlamps they fixed in the 997 but they aren't terrible. It's still a great lookingcar &you can pick up a great low mileage 996 at super low prices right now (under $40k). I would stay 2002-2004 since it got the engine upgrade. If you geta great deal on a certified 996 you'll only take a small hit when you go to sell down the road. I would say the car would bottom out at around $20-$25k no matter how long you drive it. Pay the extra money to get a 997 and it will be selling for what a 996 sells for today or less 2 years from now. It really comes down to what your comfortable in spending. If you can geta low mileage '05-06 997 C2 for under $50k go for it. That's cheaper than what I am seeing them for. Also be aware I don't think the C4S has a spare. I've also noticed that Guards Red cars go for around $5-$10k less than any other color so if you like that color it might be an even better buy.

I would go for a one owner, low milage >25k miles, cleanest 996 I could find for around $35-$40k. Most likely an '03 or '04 C2. They are a good buy right now. Lot of car for the money and still has the looks and prestige of any other Pcar. In this economy I'd take the extra $15-20K I'd save on a 996 vs a 997 and put in the bank. You'll get 95% of the fun with a 996 vs a 997 and 95% of most people can't the difference between a 993/996/or 997. Good luck!
