wont start!:(
well i just found this site in search of an answer for the issue im having with my 1984 944. bought this 944 for 2500$ with 97000 miles on it well taken care of reason it was sold this guy had bought 3 of them for his son but the kid wanted a 350z instead so wanted to sell the cars for extra money so i got the 1 and the other was given to me as a parts car so good deal for me i guess. black/ black exterior/interior all and all good. so the problem: bought the car the guy said he thinks the car needs a new battery and it did so i bought the international one for 130$ put it in but wouldnt start so i check the voltage shows 12 and spark plugs are brand new and when you try to get the car to turn over it just cranks so i took out the spark plugs and you can smell gas going through on them so fuel pump seems to be fine and air is going through so. i look around and i notice for the timing belt casing theres a screw missing so i asked the owner if he was messing around with the timing belt he said he did play with it to idle higher so if im not mistaken ... do you guys/girls think the issue is with the timing belt? if so any info you can give me would be great as well any tips on how i can fix whatever the guy did to it. ...BUT i did leave something out and just remembered. he had told me his son got the 350z about 7 months ago and had just left the 944 sit there and had no problem with it when it was last driven. i also had to put gas in the car because it was empty. so if it sounds like timing issue let me know please.

RE: wont start!:(
12 volts showing air is getting in and there is gas getting to the spark plugs whatever the casing that goes around the timing belt is called was messed around with prior to me purchasing the car the previous owner said that he made it idle higher for whatever reason and a buddy of mine thats more how should i say more experienced with cars said that either timing or the ECU. whats an easy way of checking to see if the ECU isnt working?
