Default 944 wont start

I ran my 85 944 out of gas by accident a week ago. Put gas in and it wouldn't start, tried again today and no-go until I opened the cap on the end of the fuel rail a turn or to, was going to take it off to see if I was getting fuel, and as soon as I saw a few drops of gas I tightened it and bam it started right up. It ran for a few minutes and then stalled. Now I get no juice at the coil. Anyone help me?

hmmm... we may need some more details on this one. It was running fine a week ago, you ran out of gas and when you filled it, it wouldn't keep running? Are you 100% sure it died from gas starvation, or could you have just been low on gas when something else went wrong? Restarted once and now no spark...

I'd start by checking fuel pressure, just to eliminate that as a concern. Check the voltage going to the coil, if thats good, then you may need to replace the coil. If it doesn't start after that, repost with an update and we'll go from there...

Good luck!

Regards,

Well the original problem we think was an air lock in the fuel system. As soon as the cap on the end of the fuel rail was loosened it started. Now it seems like we have no power to the coil. Hooked a meter to the coil leads read zip power. Was wondering if some sort of sensor was not allowing power to the coil. Or maybe whatever sends power to the coil is bad. I appreciate any help and will try anything you suggest but it may take a few days between attempts. Working a lot of hours. Thanks for your help.

How are you testing the coil? Turn the key to ON and use the battery ground for the negative probe. Should be reading +12v on either terminal of the coil. Doesn't matter what condition the sensors are in, you can even remove them completely, the coil will still read +12v on both terminals. Basically, the coil is hooked directly up to the battery through the ign. switch. Not sure what this has to do with you running out of gas.
