1980s 911 porsche, Qs on pre purchase dos and don'ts
I have owned a few autos, all subarus, and one ford taurus. I used to spend 95 % of my on road time on a motorcycle of some sort. I currently have moved back to Montana, and a motorcycle is NOT suitable for most of the year.
I want something with a bit of character and that is fun to drive. I also want something that is reliable and won't be a money pit. I confess I have had very little exsposure to Porsche, mostly through a boss who owned a 944 or 924 (not sure which).
What should I look for?
What are common failure points?
What is the expected life expectancy of the motor?
Insurance rates for a late 20s driver with no tickets/moving violations?
There seems to be a ton of 1980s 911s for 15K to 20K.
Thanks!
