2qts low = engine damage?
Hi,
I own a 2000 911. I believe that I had a wiring failure that prevented the low oil pressure warning light from coming on. The other night when I came home I heard a quite unusual series of noises coming from the engine...a combination of squeaking and metallic slapping.
The engine revs fine. When I check the oil it was 2 quarts low. My question is whether this level of oil could lead to engine damage...or did I just happen to have something break.
Will be towing it to the shop soon!
Thanks,
Jack
ps. I have the engine sound as a file if anyone is interested in doing a remote diagnosis.

Yes, 2 quarts low on that engine could definitely cause a failure. I just had a 2003 in the shop today with engine noise that unfortunately is an intermediate shaft failure which means new engine time.
