Default 911 3.2 targa newbie questions

Hello everyone

I just bought an 89 911 targa with 82 K miles . I had a dansk exhaust and a performance chip added. What a driving experience ... wow it's a gem.. I will post pictures after the snow clears.

Anyways sorry for the newbie question but when I am going above 65 MPH I have a vibration in the steering wheel. Is this just the nature of the 911 or should I take it back and get it checked out ?

Also I will be storing this car outside under a cover in cold weather . What are some recommendations for cold weather upkeep ? I plan to drive it about once a week during the winter anyways to keep all the parts moving.

Also I have heard that the batteries drain in these cars if they sit too long, will the once a week driving take care of this problem ?

Sorry for the newbie questions but any help would be appreciated .

Kyle

kt911,
I just joined, doesn't seem to be much action here. Anyway if no one has replied yet I would say "no" it is not the nature of a 911 to have any vibration in the wheel. It is most likely being caused by a out of balance front tire or alignment problem. Have the front wheels balanced by a reputable tire store and if that doesn't cure it, have the front end aligned. 99% chance it's just a tireout of balance.

I like the "does anyone read this forum" comment. I have an 88 Carrera cabrio and it also has a shimmy at 60/65. I suspect the tires are not properly counter-weighted.

Make sur you have factory rims or rims that are hub centric. I had this problem and replaced the wheels. Problem gone. Its a good place to start.
