on my 1999 996it was the expansion chamber, but I thought by the year your car was produced that they have eleminated the problem

Default RE: 996 C4 2000 Coolant leak

that's been the biggest issue with my 2001 996 tt...coolant leaks. One in the front with a loose hose clamp...not a big deal. The second in the rear and it was pouring out clean coolant. It turned out to be the coolant hoses going into the engine...again loose hose clamps. But they had to take off the alternator, intake charge system, air filter housing, serpentine belt to access the hose clamps.

Other than that, the car has been perfect, but the coolant leaks have been irritating, to say the least. I bought the car with only 3k a year ago and my mechanic believes the car simply sat too much. He has never seen these two leaks on a turbo. I now have 7k miles.

good luck with your fix! Like the previous post, it could be the expansion chamber, but on my 2001 it hasn't been the problem yet.
