Attention Mechanics or Specialists: 911 Won't turn over, Thoughts??!!
I’m looking to purchase a 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S. However the owner has had issues getting the car to start. He advised that on and off over the past 2 years their mechanic has attempted to repair this car's electrical issue. No matter which gear the shifter is positioned, the ignition will not turn over. They put a scanner on the car, and it shows the car thinks it's in 2nd gear. They replaced the shifter assembly, the transmission control module, the transmission valve body assembly, and that didn't work. We can hotwire the starter, and the engine turns over, so we know it's not seized.
I understand you would need to see the car but based on this description what do you think could be wrong and how much would it cost to fix.
