Default Head Job vs Engine Replacement

My 1991 911 is suffering from the ceramic coating on the heads deteriorating and flowing into the the exhaust. My mechanic estimates the cost of replacing the heads at about 10K
Does this sound feasibel and what is the cost of an engine swap vs a complete rebuild
Thanks

Is 10k for a complete rebuild, or just doing the top end? If so, he is really high IMHO. If he pulls the heads and the engine needs P's and C's, then yea, it will get that expensive.

A used motor is still going to run over 8k I would bet, so you probably aren't going to save anything going that route....plus another used motor could do the same thing.
