Gee (pardon my English attempt at an American idiom) I'm glad I live in the UK, as we have legislation that works where a bona fide Dealer sells goods that are "not fit for purpose" irrespective of the "as is" attempted get out clause. Clearly if it could not pass the statutory test it was not "fit for purpose"!
While its no comfort to your current feelings of having been abused and ripped off, you do sound to be a few $ still in pocket relative to the market value of the car.
I've learned that unless its a simple vehicle, and it's an "exotic" which Porsche still are, you tend to get what you pay for! Thats why I will allways buy from an OPC, you pay more but they stand by the purchaseand fix a problem or two or three!

You get what you pay for, and if yougot a good inspection the mechanic could have ran his own test to see if something was wrong before the cpu would have sent a check engine light.

I have to agree with the others. A GOOD PPI would have detected these problems, prior to the sale. However, you did come out ahead, most of us don't... Also I'm always a little suspect about prices I get from Porsche Dealers... Their hourly rate is usually higher then independent shops and the work is not necessarily better...IMHO
