Default interior quality and other nits

I've had my '03 996tt for a few months now, and I'm pretty disappointed with the fit and finish inside. For example, the leather is threatening to crack on the drivers seat, the side mirror adjustment panel is quite loose, as are the pieces near the insider door handles. Some damage to the back of the passenger seat suggests the previous owner was a pig and beat the hell out of the car, (the dealer said he actually didn't have a drivers licence and had the car to be chauffeur-driven in! does that sound dr. evil-freakish or what?),but I'm wondering if anybody else with early 996 cars has been similarly disappointed with the interior fit and finish?

I had a look in a cayenne turbo Sin the showroom, and was amazed at how cheap and plasticky the interior looks on a 140k euro car. Does porsche just not bother with interior details?
