Oil burning question

RE: Oil burning question
If it's leaking that's one thing, but if it's consuming 1/4 quart every 1000 miles are you guys who are saying to take it back kidding? I know I'm a new member here, but I've been working on cars since I was 12 and I also read a lot about them. Industry standard level of acceptable oil consumption is 1 quart every 1000 miles. That's not Porsche, that's industry.

RE: Oil burning question
I agree, fairly normal. I have a 996TT, and of course you will always have some oil from the turbo bearing leak into the exhaust, so the TT use about a half a quart every 1000 give or take some. But even non-turbo will use some. Especially if you have done a lot of 'city' (stop start) driving - the oil level will, at first, actually rise, then after a good long run at freeway speeds will drop back down. So if you measured after a lot of city driving then did a measure right after a highway drive, you will notice a drop - thats with any car.
But I'd ask the dealer anyway...
