Greetings all,
New owner of an 86 944. Just replaced the clutch in my garage...drop the engine!!?? It was quite an experience but fortunately I had access to a master mechanic and he kept me out of trouble. I look forward to learning about my new toy. I have a question right off the bat, and have not had a chance to see how many times it has already been asked but here it is.............
One of the two fans used to cool the radiator has failed (apparently it is the one that is used to actually cool the engine and not the one that comes on when the airconditioner is on.) Two things, can I for the moment just switch the plugs and use the other fan for cooling the car? and Is there an alternative fix other than coughing up the $238 for a replacement? I know, I know...Get used to it , Right?

I would pull the fan sroud and swap the fans

I figured that there was probably no difference between the two fans. However, since I live in Bakersfield where Summers can get into the 104 degree area, I'll definately need to get the air conditioning fan going eventually! Thanks for your reply!

I suppose you have checked the cooling fan fuse and cooling fan relay. Ther is a good cooling fan checkout/troubleshooting aid @ http://www.clarks-garage.com/look in the shop manual under cooling system. Alot of other good info here too.
