Default 944 s2 will not go into gear

last night i was driving my 90 944s2, i went around a corner and as i shifted into 5th i lost all power to my back wheels. the shifter felt like it was going into gear as usual, but when i reved engine it wouldent move at all. none of the gears are engauging (<-sp?). i drove the car aprox. 700 miles over the weekend and there were no problems at all. to me it sounds like a linkage of some kind. (dont have much drive train expierience on either of my 944s) ideas?

My guess is you had a CV axle come loose (bolts either broke, or backed out).

If the gear shifter feels like it is going into the different gears fine, then the clutch should be ok. I would next check the torque tube to transaxle input shaft coupler and make sure it is still ok. No grinding noises at all?

i checked the car out some more today on my lunch and i put it in all the gears and pushed to feel if in was in gear. when i pushed it, it felt the same in all the gears (with the car off). im getting it towed tomorow, im thinking maybe a linkage of some kind? no grinding sounds thankfully.
