Default Age Of Timing Belt

My timing belt was changed about 4000 miles ago @ approx 40000 miles with the required2500 mile tension adjustment, but it was done 12 years ago. Should it be changed?

12 YEARS AGO! Oh dear god do not start the car again until you get it changed. I wouldn't go over 5 years on a belt, no matter the mileage. Dry rot is a killer. In fact, I have pulled a belt off a car that was 5 years old and had 500 miles on it, and it was not good. Dodged a bullet.
