Two possibilities: Clutch hydraulic system leak (clutch master, slave, or the line in between), or rubber center clutch disc coming apart. More than likely a leak though in the hydraulic system.

Then your disc is probably about shot. I was reading that the pedal was sticking near the ground.

Independant shop. The dealer probably doesn't remember how to do a clutch on a 944 anymore, and they will charge more hours and usually a higher rate.
